Vancouver’s Isabella Bertold fell in love with sailing at the young age of five. By age thirteen she qualified for both the Junior, and Senior National teams racing the women’s single-handed Olympic dinghy, the Laser Radial.Isabella raced amongst the top ranks finishing 4th at both the 2008 and 2009 International Sailing Federation Youth World Championships. She capped off 2009 by winning both the junior and senior Canadian National titles.
After qualifying Canada for the 2012 Olympics, and again claiming the national title, Isabella was preparing to represent Canada at the London Olympics. Unfortunately she suffered a serious concussion in training forcing her to watch the 2012 games from the sidelines.
She followed up her 2012 injury plagued season determined to bring home Canada’s first medal in women’s Olympic sailing. 2013 was her breakout season, winning her first world cup medal, and reaching a career high world ranking of 2nd.
Isabella graduated with a BComm from the Sauder School of Business in May 2017, and has joined the Relentless Pursuit Partners team as an analyst. Isabella enjoys sharing her competitive drive with the fast-paced startup space, and is passionate about health & wellness tech, and tackling problems within the health domain.
Isabella still actively competes on the ISAF Sailing World Cup Circuit, and has recently joined the TaG Cycling Women’s team as a cat 3 road bike racer.
